Green white Green to Open Lights Camera Africa Film Festival 2016
Lagos – The Lights, Camera, Africa!!! 2016 Film Festival, holding from September 30 to October 2 at the Federal Palace Hotel, is proud to announce Green White Green as its opening film.
The 102-minute film by Abba Makama follows the day-to-day of three young men from Nigeria’s biggest ethnic groups as they wait to start university in Lagos. When they’re not wiling away time playing videogames or yabbing each other, they’re also chasing dreams of overnight success as artists. If inexperience is a barrier, then persistence is their secret weapon. In this film showing on Friday 30th September at 7pm, the filmmaker showcases a can-do way of life that feels perfectly Lagosian.
We’re excited to have Makama back after bringing us Nollywood, at last year’s edition of the festival. Born and raised in Jos, he was recently named one of 15 African creatives to watch by Ventures Africa magazine.
More than 20 other riveting films will be screening at the Lights, Camera, Africa!!! 2016 Film Festival. And, true to its tradition, we will also have directors’ talks, discussions, great wine, a colorful souk of design objects, festival memorabilia and other ideal gifts items, live music, and a bevy of thrilling ancillary attractions – and a few new surprise add-ons in to commemorate the festival’s 2016 theme – “Music Makes The People…”
